Coach Poirier is a 1985 graduate of Galeton High School where she played basketball for four years and was an All-Twin Tiers selection and two-time NTL West Player of the Year. Coach Poirier scored over 1,554 points in three years at the Varstiy level, and is currently Galeton's all-time leading scorer and still holds the record for points scored in a game (45). She was a three-year letter winner in Basketball, a four-year letter winner in Track & Field, and a two-year letter winner in Tennis.
Coach Poirier attended Shippensburg University after High School on a basketball scholarship. She played for three years while earning a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, Coach Poirier went on to Penn State University to earn a M.S. degree in Health Promotion and Education. After earning her Masters, Coach Poirier taught Health Education for Howard County Public School System for three years while coaching track and volunteer coaching basketball.
Coach Poirier has coached boys and girls 5th and 6th grade youth programs at Wellsboro for 7 years and was the Varsity head coach of the Lady Hornets from 2018-2019, where she won an NTL Large School Division title and an NTL Showdown title.
Coach Poirier is married to her husband Glenn, with five children. In her free time, she enjoys baking, spending time with family and friends, and officiating soccer.
