The Wellsboro Middle School basketball teams both beat Towanda on Wednesday, March 4.
The boys team improved to 3-4 with a 34-11 win over the Black Knights. Brandyn Tuttle and Holden Kennedy each scored nine points in the win to lead the boys team. In the girls game, the Lady Hornets beat Towanda 34-18 to improve their record to 7-3.
"We had a very physical game against a big Towanda team," said head coach Darrell Morris. "Our girls did an excellent job of playing our style of basketball, and although we didn't have a strong shooting night, we made plays consistently on offense, and our defensive pressure kept their offense off balance all night."
Emma Poirier had 14 points, four rebounds, and four steals, Cathryn Brought had eight points, Julia Smith had eight points and nine rebounds, Jaime Palmer and Karinthia Witmer added 2 points each, and Heidi Zuchowski added six rebounds.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday, March 6 as they host Northeast Bradford.
