Three Hornets Take Individual Matches In Loss To Troy

Three members of the Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team scored individual wins despite falling 47-15 to NTL foe Tuesday evening.

Seniors Vaughn Shannon (127) and Hayden Stevens (215) and junior Wyatt Kilburn (172) were all victorious on the evening.

The Trojans held an 11-0 lead after the first two bouts, there was no match at 114 lbs. Shannon scored a forfeit at 127 to break the skid and cut the lead down to 11-6. Troy then ran off five straight wins to push the lead up to 41-6 after the 160 lb. match.

Kilburn won a 14-8 decision against Thomas Moon then Stevens, after no match at 189 lbs., pinned Kael Millard.

Troy's Reed Palmer took the heavyweight bout by forfeit to close out the match.

The loss drops the Hornets to 0-14 (0-7 NTL). The team is back on the mat at Williamson for this weekend's Battle On The Border tournament.
