Wellsboro's offense produced a season-best 18 runs to roll to an 18-6 win in six innings over Sayre on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Hornets swept the season series with the Lady Redskins.
Wellsboro started the game off with 5 runs in the 1st inning, then added 4 more in the 2nd to jump out to a 9-0 lead. Two more runs in the 3rd increased the lead to 11-0.
The Lady Hornets added two more runs in the top of the 4th before Sayre scored all six of their runs in the bottom half of the inning, then closed the game out with 5 more runs in the 6th.
Sophomore Rylee Coolidge went 3-for-3 to lead Wellsboro at the plate, with 2 RBIs, a double and three runs scored. Sophomore Paityn Biery went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, sophomore Kaylee Frazier went 3-for-5 with a triple, 3 RBIs and a run scored, and freshman Haylie Smith went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored two runs. Sophomore Madalynn Flannery was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and a run scored, and sophomore Adelyn Frantz, freshman Gena Fleming, and senior Harleigh Cleveland all finished 2-for-5. Frantz drove in two and scored twice, Fleming tripled, added an RBI and scored three times, and Cleveland scored once.
Freshman Emaleigh Hamblin and junior Mazie Johnson added the remaining hits.
Fleming went the distance on the mound for her 1st win of the season. She allowed 6 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits with three walks and 11 strikeouts.
Wellsboro (4-3, 2-3 NTL Large School Division) host Cowanesque Valley Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
