Hornet XC Teams Notch Wins Against Athens

Wellsboro's Varsity Cross Country teams both picked up wins over Athens on their home course Tuesday afternoon.

In the girls race Wellsboro won 26-29. The boys race was also narrowly decided, with the Hornets edging the Wildcats, 28-29.

Senior Lauren Kosek claimed the top spot for the Lady Hornets, finishing in 23:27. Junior Molly Tice (27:13) finished 3rd, junior Luisa Crocco (29:48) came home 5th, freshman Brianna O'Shea Losinger (30:37) took 7th, and junior Anja Przybycien (32:21) was 10th.

For the boys, freshman William Rudy (20:34) led the team with a 2nd place finish while sophomore Taitt Webster (22:11) was 5th, freshman Lucas Crowl (22:15) took 6th, and junior Jack Hammerton (22:55) placed 7th. Sophomore Jesse Spicer (22:57) was 8th, sophomore Jacob Patterson (24:10) crossed the line in 9th, freshman Jeff Rawson (25:08) was 12th, freshman Justin Dunlap (25:24) was 14th, and Aaron Salevsky (29:54) finished 16th.

In the Junior High races, Wellsboro split with Athens. The boys team won 17-19 while the girls fell, 17-40.

Wiley Sargent (11:34), Declan Borzok (11:34) and Colton Coolidge (11:37) were 2nd-4th and Emmett Tice (15:14) finished 8th.

For the girls, Amelia Pollaro (15:18) took 5th, Kendall DeShazo (15:27) was 6th, Serenity Harrison (16:15) was 8th, Avral DeShazo (16:45) finished 9th, and Trinity Angus (18:35) placed 12th.

The teams are back in action at the Dash in the Dark and PIAA Foundation invites this weekend.
