Hornet XC Teams Fall To Towanda, Wyalusing

The Wellsboro Cross Country teams suffered losses to Towanda and Wyalusing Tuesday afternoon.

In the boys race, the Hornets fell 15-49 to the Black Knights and 16-47 to the Rams. Towanda also beat Wyalusing 21-36. In the girls race, the Lady Hornets fell 20-40 to Towanda and 22-33 to Wyalusing. Towanda also defeated Wyalusing, 17-38.

Freshman William Rudy led the Hornets in the boys race, finishing 11th overall in 20:28. Freshman Lucas Crowl (22:01) was 19th, junior Jack Hammerton (22:30) finished 21st, sophomore Jacob Patterson (22:46) came home 23rd, sophomore Jesse Spicer (23:05) was 24th, freshman Jeff Rawson (23:54) crossed the line in 26th, sophomore Taitt Webster (25:09) finished 28th, freshman Justin Dunlap (27:07) was 29th, and freshman Aaron Salevsky (29:15) rounded out the field in 15th.

On the girls side, senior Lauren Kosek finished 1st in 20:45 for her 3rd straight win to start the season. Junior Molly Tice (25:14) was 10th, junior Luisa Crocco (28:06) was 14th, and freshman Brianna O'Shea Losinger (30:10) finished 16th.

In the Junior High races the Hornets swept Towanda and Wyalusing while the young Lady Hornets split. Wellsboro beat Towanda 20-33 and Wyalusing, 23-32. The Lady Hornets edged Towanda 26-31 and fell 18-38 to Wyalusing.

For the boys, Wiley Sargent (11:24), Colton Coolidge (11:25) and Declan Borzok (1:57) swept the field while Emmett Tice finished 9th in 15:02. For the girls Summer Boder (14:45) finished 6th, Kendall DeShazo (15:15) was 8th followed by Serenity Harrison (15:41) in 9th, Amelia Pollaro (16:43) was 12th, Avral DeShazo (17:45) crossed the finish line 14th, and Trinity Angus (18:01) rounded out the team in 15th.

Both teams are back in action next Tuesday, September 15th at Canton for a tri-meet with Sullivan County.
