Hornets Score Early Wins; Ultimately Fall To Troy

The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team fell to NTL foe Troy 48-18 on the road on Tuesday, January 14.

Wellsboro started out fast, winning three of the opening four bouts. Seniors Silas Mickey (160), Ryder Bowen (189) and junior Jayden Dumm (215) all won via forfeits to put the Hornets up 18-3.

Troy won the 172 lbs. bout by decision then won the next 8 matches to close out the victory.

There was no match at 121 lbs.

In the Junior High match Troy won 54-18. Mason Greene pinned Troy's Larry Dean in 44 seconds at 94 lbs., Logan Stevens recorded a 25 second pin against Logan Jackson at 250 lbs., and Lance Starkweather won via forfeit at 190 lbs.

The loss drops the Hornets to 0-11 (0-5 NTL). The team is back in action Thursday at home with Towanda.
