Hornets Drop Non-League Afternoon Match To Lewisburg

Lewisburg won nine of 12 bouts Friday afternoon, defeating the Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team 54-16, in a non-league match.

After starting off the match with a 12-2 major decision by Mason Greene at 107 lbs. to give the Hornets an early lead, the Green Dragons rolled off nine straight wins, four by forfeit and five by pin fall, to jump out to a 54-4 lead.

The Hornets closed out the match with a pair of wins, however. There was no match at 285 lbs.

Junior Wyatt Kilburn scored a 5:20 pin against Lennon Barner at 189 lbs. and senior Hayden Stevens pinned Hunter Hollenbach in 1:37 at 285 lbs.

The loss drops the Hornets to 0-10 overall (0-3 NTL). The team is back in action Tuesday against Canton starting at 3:00 p.m.
