Hornet Grapplers Fall To Athens, 58-12

The Athens Wrestling team ran off eight consecutive wins to defeat Wellsboro 58-12 in NTL action on Wednesday.

There was no match at 107. The Wildcats then proceeded to win the next eight individual bouts from 114 lbs. to 160 lbs. to lead 46-0.

Seniors Evan Ingerick and Ryder Bowen won the Hornets' only two matches of the evening. Ingerick pinned Ethan Elliott at 172 lbs., followed by Bowen pinning Connor Davidson at 189 lbs.

The Wildcats took the next two matches to close out the Varsity-only contest.

The loss drops the Hornets to 5-15 (0-7 NTL).

Wellsboro is back in action this evening, traveling to Sugar Valley Rural Charter for a full night of wrestling. The Hornets' Junior High team will take on both Sugar Valley and Bucktail starting at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Hornets are in action at 6:30 p.m. with the Wellsboro boys in the nightcap against the Phoenix at 7:00 p.m.
