Bowen Claims Lone Victory In Hornets' 69-6 Loss To Towanda

Senior Ryder Bowen claimed the lone victory for the Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team in their 69-6 loss to Towanda on Thursday, January 16.

Bowen pinned the Black Knight's Caleb Austin at 189 lbs.

Prior to that match Towanda ran off 10 consecutive victories, including forfeits from 107 lbs. to 133 lbs., three straight pins at 139, 145 and 152, a tech fall at 160, and major decision at 172. Towanda then closed out the match with back-to-back pins at 215 and 285.

In the Junior High match, Towanda defeated Wellsboro by the score of 54-21. Mason Greene (94), Taitt Webster (101), and Logan Stevens (250) earned forfeits while Lance Starkweather won a 9-3 decision over Waylon Johnson at 190.

Wellsboro falls to 0-12 (0-6 NTL). The team travels to Williamson High School tomorrow for the "Battle on the Border" Duals.
