The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team went 0-6 at the Spartan Duals in Hughesville on Saturday, December 14.
The Hornets fell 48-24 to Mid Valley, 28-21 to Northeast Bradford, 51-18 against Lackawanna Trail, 54-18 to Wyoming Valley West, 66-6 to the host Spartans, and 36-28 to Sullivan County.
Against Mid Valley senior Ryder Bowen pinned pinned Cannon Auer at 189, while juniors Jayden Dumm and Hayden Stevens scored forfeits.
Five Hornets earned wins against Northeast Bradford in the 2nd round including senior Evan Ingerick (13-8 decision, 189), Bowen (1:03 pin, 215), Stevens (3:22 pin, 285), junior Mason Nowak (9-4 decision, 139), and sophomore Wyatt Kilburn (8-6 decision, 152).
Stevens (forfeit, 285), Nowak (1:07 pin, 139) and freshman Reed Richardson (0:32 pin, 145) earned wins against Lackawanna Trail.
Bowen (0:43 pin, 189), freshman Vincent Arena (0:33 pin, 121), and senior Silas Mickey (forfeit, 160) scored wins against Wyoming Valley West.
Stevens scored Wellsboro's only win against Hughesville, pinning Colton Woolever in 1:25 at 285.
In their final pairing against Sullivan County, the Hornets trailed 36-0 to open the match. After no matches at 107 and 114, the Griffins won six straight matches before the Hornets rallied to take the next five. Mickey (2:24 pin, 160), freshman Gavin Carson (0:32 pin, 172), Bowen (0:55 pin, 189), Dumm (28-18 major, 215), and Stevens (0:25 pin, 285) picked up Wellsboro's wins.
Wellsboro (0-7, 0-1 NTL) hosts Wyalusing Tuesday.
