Senior Karah Blackwell signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her cross country career in the fall for Alfred State.
Blackwell, who will study Criminal Justice, made her commitment official on December 11.
Blackwell went and toured Alfred State last year as a junior and instantly fell in love.
"I liked the community of campus and how it just felt like home," she said. I like how everyone there is willing to help and help everyone succeed. The close knit community and the people that are there and how everyone is super kind."
While on campus Blackwell also got to meet many of her new teammates.
"I got to have lunch with them and they gave me a tour of campus."
Junior High Head Coach Tyler Upham expressed his excitement for Blackwell.
"It's extremely exciting to hear that Karah will be running at the next level," said Upham. "Coach Eric (Kosek) and I do the best we can to show her how much fun running can be and I hope she carries that mentality into the next level of her competition. Karah has shown she has an enduring spirit, and always overcame came hardships to make it to the finish line. She was a great example to younger athletes and would often be found in the group of them having a good time as a team."
Blackwell also added, "My coches were a huge support. They gave me every tool I need to succeed and all the training that was necessary."
WellsboroXC.com would like to congratulate Karah on continuing her academic and athletic career at Alfred State in the fall.
