The Wellsboro Junior High Softball team won their first games of the season, defeating Northeast Bradford on Monday, April 17.
They won the 1st game 21-10 and won the 2nd 12-11 on a Luisa Crocco walk off double.
In the first game Jadyn Dunlap had 4 hits, scored 4 runs and hit a home run to lead Wellsboro white Ady Frantz had 3 hits, 3 runs and an RBI. Ella Boyce, Delany Morral, Kaelyn Peterson, Mazie Johnson, Kate Bryant, and Kaylee Frazier all had 2 hits and Bailee Confer added a hit, a run, and an RBI. Peterson scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs, Boyce scored once and drove in a pair of runs, Johnson scored twice and drove in two, Morral crossed home plate three times, Bryant scored twice and Frazier also added a run.
Frantz pitched 3 and a half innings, striking out 6.
In game two Hannah Taylor had three hits and scored the tying run in the bottom of the 5th. Isabella Dean and Crocco had 3 hits and Rylee Coolidge and Paige Browning added a pair of hits. Coolidge scored three times and drove in two runs, Dean scored three times, and Crocco also scored twice.
Browning pitched 5 innings with 5 strikeouts.
Wellsboro improves to 2-2 on the year, and is back on the field Thursday against Cowanesque Valley.
