The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Cross Country team split a pair of races against Athens and Sullivan County while the Varsity Boys team dropped both races on Tuesday, October 3.
The Lady Hornets beat Sullivan County 8-13 while the Lady Wildcats won 21-36. Athens also beat Sullivan County 16-39.
Freshman Lauren Kosek won the race in 22:33. Sophomore Sophia Yoder finished 7th in 26:35 and junior Karah Blackwell crossed the finish in 9th with a time of 31:53.
In the boys race Athens beat Wellsboro 21-36 and Sullivan County won 24-31. Athens also defeated Sullivan County, 24-33.
Sophomore Max Macias led the Hornets with a 2nd place finish in 20:41. Fellow sophomore Henry Whitney finished 8th (23:31), sophomore Robbie Bowers (24:19) was 12th, sophomore Ethan Geneski (24:22) was 13th, freshman Ethan Pollaro (43:57) came home 23rd, and senior Tristan Lane rounded out the field in 24th (48:06).
In the Junior High race Wellsboro beat Athens in both races, 27-28 in the boys and 13-23 in the girls.
For the boys Taitt Webster finished 6th in 13:41, Lane Cozby (14:09) was 8th, Jacob Patterson (14:10) was 9th, and Owen Stumbo (14:33) was 12th. Kaci Kosek (12:53) won the girls race, Addie Chaborek (15:07) was 7th, Molly Tice (15:27) was 9th, and Anja Przybycien (18:06) was 13th.
Wellsboro hosts rival North Penn-Mansfield and Wyalusing next Tuesday.
