The Towanda Cross Country teams swept both North Penn-Mansfield and Wellsboro in an NTL tri-meet on Tuesday, September 20 at Towanda.
The Black Knights won 15-46 against Mansfield and 15-47 over Wellsboro in the boys race. The Tigers also defeated the Hornets, 26-33. In the girls race the Lady Knights beat Mansfield 25-30 and Wellsboro 20-41. The Lady Tigers also defeated the Lady Hornets, 20-40.
Freshman Max Macias was the top finisher in the boys race as he crossed the finish line in 6th place in 21:41. Sophomore Chris Greenawalt (22:23) finished 10th, freshman Henry Whitney (23:31) was 12th, freshman Robbie Bowers (28:46) was 19th, and junior Tristan Lane (48:50) was 21st.
Senior Madeline Gage took home the top spot in the girls race with a time of 23:34. Senior Julia DeCamp (31:02) was 13th and sophomore Karah Blackwell (33:08) was 15th.
In the Junior High race the Wellsboro girls swept Towanda (20-35) and North Penn-Manfield (15-50) while the boys split with Towanda (24-32) and beat North Penn-Mansfield (15-50). Wellsboro captured four of the top five overall spots as Michael Knefly won with a time of 11:10. Lauren Kosek (11:23) was 2nd, Isla Twoey (11:54) was 3rd, and Bella Hawn (12:30) was 5th.
The team is back in action for a home meet next Tuesday, September 27, with Cowanesque Valley and Northeast Bradford.
