An 8-run 3rd inning and 5-run 6th inning pushed Northeast Bradford to a 15-3 win over the Wellsboro Varsity Softball team in 6 innings on Monday, April 11.
The Lady Panthers scored twice in the top of the 1st but the Lady Hornets rallied in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. Junior Jordyn Abernathy doubled to lead off the inning then scored on a grounder by junior Madaline Bordas. One at-bat later freshman Alexandra Urena hit a two-run home run scoring herself and Bordas to put the Lady Hornets in front.
Wellsboro held the one-run lead until the top of the third when Northeast Bradford plated 8 runs to retake the lead and go ahead, 10-3. Northeast Bradford then added 5 more runs in the top of the 6th to end the game.
Bordas led the Lady Hornets at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Senior Olivia Servatius, sophomore Abby Owlett, Junior Rylie Boyce, Urena, and Abernathy all added single hits.
Boyce pitched the entire game, allowing 15 runs (7 earned) on 13 hits with with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 2-5 (0-5 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Thursday, April 14 against Wyalusing.
