The North Penn-Liberty Mounties scored a 53-24 NTL wrestling win over rival Wellsboro on Tuesday, January 4.
The match started at 215 with Liberty's George Valentine scoring a fall at 5:45 over senior Justice Harlan. Junior Wyatt Gastrock won by forfeit at 285, then the Mounties proceeded to take the next 4 matches.
Brayden Pequignot won by forfeit at 106, Riley Oaks pinned freshman Alec Magli in 1:40 at 113, Trinity Robinson scored a forfeit at 120, and Cale Wagner pinned sophomore Ezra Lawton in 1:55 at 126.
The Hornets won back-to-back pins at 132 and 138 by freshmen Silas Mickey and Will Gastrock before the Mounties' Ryan Roupp won by pin-fall in 5:15 at 145 over freshman Jacob Dean.
Wellsboro's final win came at 152 by forfeit for junior Aden Tom, then the Mounties took the next 3 weights. At 160, Easton Pequignot pinned freshman Evan Ingerick in 1:07, followed by a Gaven Sexauer pin of freshman Aiden Jones in 28 seconds at 172, and in the final bout of the evening, Kohen Lehman won an 18-3 tech fall over junior Joe Brown.
The Hornets (2-5, 1-3 NTL) host Lewisburg on Friday, January 7.
