The Wellsboro Middle School Baseball team split a pair of Saturday games at Williamson on Saturday, May 1.
The Hornets beat Wyalusing 6-2 and tied Williamson 6-6.
Against Williamson the Hornets took an early 2-0 lead but Williamson tied the game up in the bottom of the 1st. Wellsboro scored 2 more runs in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th. Williamson, however, scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a 6-5 lead over Wellsboro, which the Hornets managed to score once in the top of the 5th for the tie.
Will Gastrock, Marek Mascho, and Cameron Owlett all had 2 hits in the game with Mascho connecting on a double. Mascho (2), Alec Magli, Gabe Sprouse, Owlett, and Drayden McGee scored runs.
In the win over Wyalusing the Hornets scored twice in the bottom of the 1st, twice in the 4th and twice in the 5th. The Rams scored one run each in the 3rd and 5th innings.
Mascho and Dylan Copp had 2 hits apiece while Dustin Owlett, Sprouse, and Lucas Cuneo added one hit each. Cuneo and Will Gastrock had 2 RBIs and Sprouse, Mascho (2), Copp, McGee, and Dustin Owlett scored.
In the softball game the Lady Hornets dropped a pair of games, losing to Williamson 21-6 in 4 innings and 27-14 to Wyalusing, also in 4 innings.
Both teams are back in action on Wednesday, May 5 at Wyalusing.
