The Wellsboro XC teams did battle in an NTL tri-meet at North Penn-Mansfield on Tuesday, September 24 where they split wins.
The Lady Hornets scored a pair of wins, beating Mansfield 23-32 and edging CV, 27-28. CV also edged Mansfield, 27-28.
CV's Jules Jones finished 1st in 19:38, followed by freshman Madelin Gage (21:29), Mansfield Emma Harris (22:09), CV's Lilli Hepfer (22:35), and freshman Julia DeCamp (22:53) crossed the fish line in 5th. Senior Kylie Butler (22:54) was 6th, junior Aislinn Hoose (23:51) was 9th, and junior Alexis Banik (26:48) was 13th.
In the boys race Mansfield topped Wellsboro 22-33 and Cowanesque Valley, 25-30. CV also beat Wellsboro 20-35.
The Tigers Sam Shedden won in 16:58, followed by Noah Shedden in 17:17. CV's Seth Neal (17:23) was 3rd followed by teammate Chris Harris (17:57) in 4th, and senior Austin Richards (18:03) rounded out the top 5. Junior Aidan Fletcher (19:40) was 8th, sophomore Gabe Guignard (20:51) was 12th, junior Tylar Wright (21:08) was 13th, sophomore Drew Manning (21:26) was 15th, sophomore Liam Manning (22:07) was 17th, junior Anthony Dunkel (22:55) was 18th, and junior Daniel Swanson (24:25) was 22nd.
Neither team had enough runners to score in the Middle School boys race. Ian Hoose won and Joseph Busch took home a 6th place finish.
In the Middle School girls race Wellsboro beat CV 15-50 and fell 20-36 to North Penn-Mansfield. Emily Morris and Hannah Nuss finished 17th and 18th overall, respectively.
Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, October 1 at Northeast Bradford.
