The Wellsboro JV Football team traveled to Canton to take on the Warriors, and left with a 34-14 victory on Monday, October 14.
With 1:17 remaining in the 1st quarter freshman Conner Adams threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Ryan Sweet to give the Hornets an early lead. Later in the 2nd quarter Adams ran in a touchdown from 7 yards out, giving Wellsboro a 13-0 halftime lead.
Wellsboro increased their lead with 2 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. With 2:47 remaining Adams found freshman Will Kibler on a 26 pass to go up 19-0, then just 15 seconds later Adams called his own number for the 2nd time, after Wellsboro receovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, to increase the lead to 27-0 after he hit freshman Connor Burrell on a 2-point conversion.
The host Warriors scored twice in the 4th quarter to avoid being shutout. Their first touchdown came with 8:36 to play on a quarterback draw to cut the lead to 27-8, then later scored with 10 seconds left after Adams threw his third touchdown of the night, and second to Kibler, from 11 yards out.
The win improves the Hornets' record to 7-1. The team is back in action for the final time on the season next Monday, October 18 at Wyalusing.
