The Wellsboro Middle School Football team started their season off on a high note as they beat Towanda 44-8 on Thursday, September 6.
The Hornets started things off with a 75-yard touchdown run by Conner Adams and followed up by a two-point conversion pass to Connor Burrell to give Wellsboro an 8-0 lead. Adams again broke free on an 80-yard run for another score, then found Will Kibler on another two-point conversion pass to make it 16-0.
Adams later connected with Burrell from 11 yard out for another score, then completed the two-point pass to Spencer Wetzel to give the Hornets a 24-0 lead.

A Black Knight score and conversion cut Wellsboro's lead to 30-8 before the Hornets scored twice more in the second half, both by Burrell. The first score came on a 38-yard run then a 58-yard run and two-point conversion pass to Blake Hamblin.
