Freshman Kerrah Clymer threw a no-hitter as the Wellsboro Varsity Softball team shutout Sayre 16-0 on Tuesday, April 24.
Clymer was also a walk shy of throwing a perfect game. She retired the first 11 batters of the game (5 strikeouts) before issuing a walk with two outs. Clymer got the next batter to ground out to shortstop to end the game.
Offensively for Wellsboro the Lady Hornets' 16 runs came on 10 hits.
Junior Hailey Neal was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, junior Heidi Zuchowski was 2-for-3 with 5 RBIs, and senior Sydney Tremper was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Sophomore Ryann Adams, senior Kailee Clymer, Kerrah Clymer, and junior Tiana Lecker added the remaining hits while Adams (3), Tremper (2), Kerrah Clymer (4), Zuchowski (2), Kailee Clymer (4), and Lecker all scored runs on the afternoon.
The win evens the Lady Hornets' record up at 5-5 (5-3 NTL Large School Division). The team will be back in action on Friday, April 27 at Williamson.
