Freshman Kerrah Clymer was named the Towanda Daily Review's All-Region Newcomer of the Year for softball on Friday, June 15.
Clymer had an outstanding freshman season as she led the Lady Hornets with a .463 batting average and was tied for the team lead in hits with 31. She also led the Lady Hornets with 26 runs scored with 3 doubles, 2 triples, a home run, 7 RBIs, and struck out just twice on the entire season.
At her center field position, Clymer had 20 putouts and 6 assists and ended the season with a .897 fielding percentage.
"I am very happy that I got this award. It was one of my individual goals for this year, and I couldn’t have done it without my team," Clymer said. "I am going to miss the seniors next year."
Joining Kerrah on the All-Region team were seniors Sydney Tremper and Kailee Clymer, sophomore Cathryn Brought, and freshmen Chelsie English and Jena Boyce.
Tremper was a first team selection, as she tied for the team lead in hits (31) while scoring 23 runs with 2 doubles, a triple, 13 RBIs, and batting .449 on the season.
Both Kerrah and sister Kailee, along with Brought were second team selections while English and Boyce landed on the All-Rookie team.
The elder Clymer went 17-for-64 (.266) at the plate with 5 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, and 8 RBIs.
Brought went 7-5 from the mound this season, throwing 87 2/3 innings with 94 strikeouts and a 3.29 ERA.
English was 17-for-50 (.340) at the plate with 6 doubles and 2 home runs while leading the Lady Hornets with 25 RBIs. Boyce, who finished third on the team in hits (24), batted .429 with 15 runs scored, 2 doubles, a home run, and 7 RBIs.
