The Wellsboro Middle School Baseball team won a doubleheader against Cowanesque Valley while the Softball team split on Tuesday, May 9.
The Hornet Baseball team won game one 4-0 and game two 6-4. In game one, Wellsboro scored all four runs in the second inning. The Hornets had six hits on the night from Kaeden Mann, Brock Hamblin, Zack Rowland, Bailey Wilcox, Brody Morral, and Zach Singer. Mann, Wilcox, Singer, and Ryan Sweet all had RBI's. Rowland pitched a complete five-inning game, allowing 4 hits and striking out 11.
In game two, CV jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but Wellsboro outscored them 6-2 in the remaining four innings to complete the sweep. Isaac Keane, Mann, Rowland, Sweet, Dylan Abernathy, and Alex Moore had hits while Keane had 2 RBI's. Abernathy and Darryn Callahan also drove home runs. Hamblin and Mann split the pitching duties, with Hamblin going three innings and Mann pitching two. Both combined for two hits, three walks, and three strikeouts.
The Lady Hornets split with CV on the afternoon, winning the first game 3-0 and dropping game two 7-5. Kerrah Clymer and Georgia Macensky combined on the mound.
The Baseball's team record now sits at 5-2-1 while the Lady Hornets are 3-5. The Softball team back in action on Thursday, May 11 at home against Towanda while the Baseball team hosts Towanda on Saturday, May 13.
