Senior Quinn Henry was named to the PA Football Writers Class AA All-State team on Monday, December 18.
Henry (athlete) was the only Northern Tier League selection in Class AA.
The senior quarterback and defensive back put up career numbers in 2017, as he became Wellsboro's only athlete to throw and rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season and rush for three straight 1,000 yards seasons.
"It feels great but that’s not possible without all the coaches who have always had my back and supported me so much the last four years," Henry said. "Also my teammates, I have the best teammates that made getting in the end zone look easy. They also have always been by my side the entire ride.
"But I'm honored to be named All-State," Henry continued. "I also want to thank my mom who took me to every practice, came to every game, and was always there for me since 1st grade."
Henry threw for 1,207 yards and 13 touchdowns while completing 63% of his passes and rushed for a career-high 1,320 yards and 27 touchdowns. In all of District IV, Henry was top-15 in passing yards and top-7 in rushing yards.
For his career, Wellsboro's most dynamic threat scored 110 touchdowns while guiding the Hornets to a 39-8 record and the program's first-ever District IV title back in 2015 at Class A.
"I am very proud of Quinn and this is a great honor to close out his high school career with," said head coach Matt Hildebrand. "After last year and not being selected he made it a goal to make sure he was not overlooked this season. There have only been a few ever selected to the All-State team in Wellsboro history, and he adds his name to a short list of past Wellsboro greats. He should be very proud of all that he has accomplished in his career and is certainly leaving his legacy on this program."
