Seniors Dawson Prough and Sarah Ingerick were honored by Athletic Director Matt Rendos with personalized bats on Friday, July 22.

The bats commemorate Prough and Ingerick becomming the latest Hornets to break the 100-hit milestone in their respective sports. Both were also Wellsboro's Male and Female Athletes of the Year for 2015-16.

"Dawson and Sarah are two of the finest student-athletes you'll ever see, so it was great to be able to recognize them," Rendos said. "It shows the quality of student-athletes we have and programs we have here at Wellsboro."

Prough broke the milestone against Cowanesque Valley on Monday, April 18 which the Hornets won 14-4. Prough finished his career 123-for-242 (.508) with 43 doubles, 6 triples, 7 home runs, 90 RBI's, and 115 runs scored, and was 33-for-63 (.524) with 14 doubles and 19 RBI's for the 2016 season.

"It was an honor to reach the milestone and the bat that the school game me makes me feel great, and knowing that I can share this with friends and family for the rest of my life," Prough said.

Ingerick became the third Lady Hornets to surpass 100 career hits on Monday, May 9 in a 10-0 win over Canton. Ingerick was 118-for-300 (.393) with 23 doubles, 5 triples, 8 home runs, and 74 RBI's for her career, and was 32-for-79 (.405) with 28 RBI's this past season.

"It's definitely nice to have a special memento from my high school career to remember all the memories and good times that were made," Ingerick said.

Both Prough and Ingerick were honored with banners during their respective games for the milestones, both of which currently hang in the Wellsboro gymnasium. The bats, however, are personal gifts that both will cherish for the rest of their lives.

"Not knowing where I'm going to end up in life its nice to be able to take a bat as a reminder of this accomplishment because I can't just go to the gym everyday and look at the banner," Prough said.

"It's nice to have something that I can reflect on all the good times," concluded Ingerick.
