The Wellsboro Middle School Football team picked up a 14-6 win over Athens on Wednesday, September 7 to start the season.
The Hornets scored on runs by Alex Moore and Isaac Keane and a two-point conversion pass to Brock Hamblin.
"It's good to get the win but we have lots of work to do moving forward," said head coach Shane Mascho. "I'm happy with the result with many new faces on the field, some playing football for the first time."
Also on the night, the B-team won 24-0 with touchdowns from Reed Covert and Nick Smith and a two-point conversion from Coleman Brown. The Hornets are 1-0 to start the season, and will be on the road next Thursday, September 15 in Muncy.
