The Wellsboro Middle School Baseball and Softball teams picked up wins on the road in Williamson on Tuesday, April 26.
The baseball team won their first game 11-6 as they scored 4 runs in the first inning, 3 in the second, 1 in the fourth, and 3 in the fifth for their fourth win of the year. Brock Hamblin was 2-for-2 to lead the Hornets at the plate, while Billy Lechler, Carson Davis, Kaeden Mann, Lucas Citrino, Ty Morral, and Jacob Trowbridge all added hits. Austin Richards and Morral pitched the first game, and combined for 7 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), and 2 strikeouts.
In the second game, Wellsboro and Williamson tied 2-2 due to darkness after four innings. Silas Wagaman scored the first run for Wellsboro in the first and Davis scored the second in the third. Williamson scored both of their runs in the first inning. Wagaman pitched all four innings, striking out 5 and allowing 1 hit and 2 walks.
The softball team scored two wins over Williamson to improve to 3-4 on the year. Wellsboro won the first game 19-9. The young Lady Hornets scored 8 runs in the first inning, 1 in the second, 2 in the fourth, 1 in the fifth, and 7 in the sixth. Ryann Adams scored 2 runs, Kerrah Clymer scored 3, Jena Boyce scored twice, Cathryn Brought and Jayden LaCoe scored 1, Georgia Macensky scored twice, Megan Starkweather and Riley Gerges scored runs, Emma Rachiele and Jessa Lohr scored, Lauren Singer, and Angela DeBockler and Nina Coolidge also added runs in the win. Brought and Macensky combined to pitch the first game. Brought pitched the first 2 innings and recorded 4 strikeouts and Macensky recorded a strikeout in 3 innings of work.
Wellsboro also won the second game 11-8. Clymer pitched the second game, striking out 6 batters for the win.
The Middle School teams will be back in Williamson on Saturday, April 30.
