The Wellsboro Middle School baseball and softball teams finished their 2016 seasons with wins over Cowanesque Valley on Tuesday, May 10.
The softball team defeated CV 11-3 to end the season with a 5-game win streak for an 6-4 record. Wellsboro scored 2 runs in first inning, 4 in the second, 1 in the third, 3 in the fourth, and 1 in the seventh.
Ryann Adams pitched for the Lady Hornets and struck out 8 and also singled on the night, Kerrah Clymer doubled, Cathryn Brought had 2 hits, Nina Coolidge had a hit, and Lauren Singer had 2 hits.
The baseball team won 12-2 to end their season on a 4-game win streak and a 8-1-1 record. The young Hornets scored 1 in the first, 1 in the second, 2 in the third, 4 in the fourth, and 4 in the seventh.
Silas Wagaman was 2-for-4 with a run, Billy Lechler and Carson Davis were 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, Kaeden Mann was 2-for-3 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored, and Ty Morral was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Clayton Orsborn and Jacob Trowbridge (2) also added runs on the night.
Davis pitched 5 innings on the mound, striking out 5 and walking 2 on the night. Mann pitched the final 2 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 runs (both earned), and struck out 2.
