Senior Darci Warriner hit her first career home run in the Lady Hornets' 12-0 shutout over Williamson on Wednesday, May 11.
Wellsboro went 14-for-30 as a team at the plate, scoing 1 run in the first inning, 4 in the second and third, and 3 in the fourth for their second win of the week.
Warriner went 2-for-2 at the plate, but drove in 5 of the Lady Hornets' 12 runs, including hitting her first career home runs. Senior Sarah Ingerick went 4-for-4 at the plate with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored, senior Alexa Singer was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and sophomore Sydney Tremper was 2-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Freshman Tiana Lecker, senior Jenny Young, and sophomores Kailee Clymer and Alyssa Yungwirth also added hits on the night.
Ingerick, Young, Tremper, and freshman Emma Poirier all scored 2 runs each while Lecker, junior Bridget Kennedy, Clymer, and Warriner added runs.
Yungwirth started on the mound for the Lady Hornets and pitched a complete, one-hit game with 2 walks and 11 strikeouts in 5 innings of work.
The win improves Wellsboro's record to 13-3 on the year. The team will be back in action on Monday, May 16 on the road in Jersey Shore.
