The Wellsboro Middle School Football team beat rival North Penn 56-0 in their final game of the 2015 season, and final game on the grass field on Wednesday, November 4.
Eighth graders Aidan Hauser, Alex Burrell, Connor Ramsey and Clayton Orsborn scored touchdowns on the ground for the Hornets on the night with Ramsey adding a pick 6 on defense. Jacob Trowbridge, Brennan Warner, Silas Wagaman and Clayton Orsborn added two-point conversions for Wellsboro. The defense played shut out football with Carson Davis, Tyler Hancock and Logan Henry controlling the line of scrimmage and putting pressure on the Panther offense.
"This was as complete a game as I have seen at this level,” remarked head coach Shane Mascho. “We wanted to send the grass field out with a win and the team came out focused, as they have all year long. We were a few conversions short of running the table with these guys.
"They have put in the work in the off season, with around 15 guys showing up all summer three times a week for morning workouts. Our message to them was to keep getting better as our 8th graders head into high school."
The win wraps up the young Horents' season with a 6-2 record, with their two losses coming by a total of 5 points.
