The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team picked up a 6-3 win over Wyalusing on Tuesday, April 28.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead as they scored runs in each of the first and second innings, but Wyalusing quickly tied the game up with two runs in the third. The Lady Rams would go up 3-2 in the 4th inning, but Wellsboro scored two runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to take home the NTL Division 1 victory.
Junior Sarah Ingerick led the Lady Hornets, and had her best plate performance as she went 4-for-4 with three doubles, 2 RBIs, and a run scored. Senior Baylea Lehman was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Freshman Alyssa Yungwirth hit her first career home run. Juniors Jenny Young and Darci Warriner, and Senior Peyton Wilson each contributed hits on the afternoon.
Junior Alexa Singer recorded her seventh win of the year as she pitched a complete game, allowing three runs (one earned), 11 hits, one double, and two walks while striking out one on 90 pitches.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 10-1 (4-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action today as they host Troy.
