The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team dropped their first home match of the year to Wyalusing, 76-0 on Tuesday, December 22.
The Rams took every match as they started off with three forfeits at 120 lbs., 126 lbs., and 132 lbs. Senior Tyler Evans lost a 7-0 decision to Joseph Doss at 138 lbs., junior Caleb Sinkler lost a 21-6 tech fall at 145 lbs. to Creighton Edsell, and sophomore Cory Busch was pinned by Collin Edsell in 1:38 at 152 lbs.
Freshman Brennan Catherman lost an 18-3 tech fall at 160 lbs. to Wyalusing's Denton Porter, freshman Hunter Brown was pinned by Ed Mapes in 4:55 at 170 lbs., freshman Robert Brown was pinned in 5:41 by Michael Wilcox at 195 lbs., and senior Owen Covert lost to Dawson Otis at 285 lbs. by a 5-2 decision.
The Rams also earned forfeits at 182 lbs., 220 lbs., 106 lbs., and 113 lbs. to close out the match.
In the Middle School match the Hornets fell to 1-2 on the year with a 57-21 loss. Brock Hamblin picked up a 7-4 decision at 80 lbs., Connor Ramsey won by pin at 122 lbs. in 2:59, Clayton Rogers pinned his opponent in 1:05 at 138 lbs., and Alex Burrell won by pin in 2:46 at 155 lbs.
The Varsity team drops to 0-3 (0-3 NTL). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, December 30 at the Selinsgrove Tournament.
