The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team won their sixth straight game with a 7-4 win over Cowanesque Valley on Friday, April 24.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to an early lead as they scored four runs in the first inning, but Cowanesque scored four in the third to tie it up. Wellsboro got three runs in the seveth, however, to bring home the win.
Senior Paige Carr led the Lady Hornets at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and RBI. Senior Jordan Butters was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's, Junior Sarah Ingerick was 1-for-3, Junior Darci Warriner was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI, and Senior Baylea Lehman was 1-for-4.
Juniors Alexa Singer and Jenny Young, Freshman Sydney Tremper, Kailee Clymer, and Alyssa Yungwirth, Warriner, and Ingerick all scored runs on the afternoon.
Singer went the full seven innings on the mound to collect her fifth win of the year. She allowed four runs (two earned) on nine hits with two walks and five strikeouts on 99 pitches.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 7-1 (3-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be in action today at the Northeast Bradford tournament.
