The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team picked up their fourth straight win as they beat Athens 4-1 on Saturday, April 18.
The Lady Hornets wasted little time as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning as Juniors Jenny Young and Sarah Ingerick each crossed home plate.
Wellsboro would add two more runs in the 2nd inning as Young and Junior Darci Warriner scored off an Alyssa Yungwirth double to go up 4-0.
Young was 1-for-2 at the plate, Junior Alexa Singer was 1-for-3, Warriner was 1-for-3, Yungwirth was 1-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs, Ingerick was 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Senior Paige Carr was 1-for-3.
Athens struggled at the plate all day, but managed to get three hits off Singer and would score a run in the 6th inning. Singer pitched a complete game, giving up a run, a walk, and three strikeouts for her fourth win of the year.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 5-1 (2-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Monday, April 20 as they travel to Liberty.
