Junior Owen Covert was just named to the All-Region wrestling team by the Towanda Daily Review.
Covert racked up the most wins for the Hornets in 2014 with 21. Covert was the Hornets' only team member to qualify for Sectionals, where he finished third overall and earned a trip to the District IV match.
"It is quite an honor to be selected for the All-Region team," Covert said. "Knowing that there are a lot of quality wrestlers in the region so being selected was quite a shock. I know I had a good year this year taking third at sectionals, topping 20 wins for the first time this year, as well as making it to the district tournament."
"Owen is very deserving of being named to the All-Region team," said head coach Scott Ingerick. "Owen only won one match his freshman year, five matches his sophomore year and this year as a junior he won over 20. He is the hardest working wrestler I have ever coached. He always goes above and beyond the requirements of practice and his hard work is paying off. We expect great things for Owen comming into his senior year."
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate Owen on his selection and thank him for his hard work and dedication during the year.
