The Wellsboro Cross Country teams had a strong showing at the NTL Coaches Meet on Saturday, October 17.
The boys team finished 3rd overall with 95 points behind Northeast Bradford (22) and Troy (70). Freshman Aidan Perry (17:37) was the top finisher in 5th place, junior Alden Weiner (18:51) was 16th, sophomore Connor Brought (19:00) was 19th, freshman Bergen Weiner (19:22) was 26th, freshman Zach Busch (20:04) was 35th, junior Bryon Callahan (20:07) was 37th, sophomore Kyle Wilson (20:59) was 54th, sophomore Logan Morral (22:42) was 68th, freshman Taylor Wheeler (23:25) was 72nd, and sophomore Noah Smith (31:42) was 83rd.
The girls team finished 4th overall with 88 points. Northeast Bradford won the meet with 45 points, followed by Canton (55) and Troy (62). Sophomore Anna Bleggi paced the Lady Hornets to a 3rd place finish with a time of 20:36. Senior Samantha Bailey (23:35) and freshman Taylor Romania (23:36) were 19th and 20th, senior Camryn Keane (24:23) was 27th, freshman Kara Doane (24:37) was 29th, freshmen Rachel Chamberlain (25:06) and Zoe Iseri (25:07) were 33rd and 34th, and freshman Brooke Unangst (25:37) was 40th.
In the Middle School races, the girls finished 2nd with 46 points behind Cowanesque Valley (34). Jaime Palmer (12:18) came home 2nd and Kylie Butler (12:45) was 4th to lead the young Lady Hornets. Austin Richards won the boys race in 10:38 and Lucas Citrino was the next top Hornet in 26th at 12:48.
The teams will be back in action on Tuesday, October 20 as they host Jersey Shore.
