The Wellsboro Varsity wrestling team lost five matches on Saturday at the Mifflin County Duals.
Against Conestoga Valley the Hornets lost 60-16. Freshman Blaze Coolidge won by pin at 120 lbs., Senior Brandon Owlett won by major decision (18-6) over Thomas Bragg, and Freshman Aaron Buckwalter pinned Jeisson Zuleta in 2:45 at 160 lbs.
Against Pocono Mountain East the Hornets lost 67-7. Senior Nate Ingerick won by major decision against James Benjamin at 132 lbs. and Freshman Kaleb Smith earned a 4-0 decision over Robert Craig at 220 lbs.
Against Mifflin County the Hornets lost 78-0.
Against Souderton the Hornets lost 43-18. Blaze Coolidge picked up a win by forfeit, Kaleb Smith pinned Andrew Stein in 1:23, and Sophomore Owen Covert won by forfeit at 285 lbs.
Against Penn Manor the Hornets lost 60-15. Blaze Coolidge picked up a win by forfeit, Nate Ingerick pinned Michael Colon in 19 seconds, and Brandon Owlett earned a 10-4 decision over Lee Estep.
With the losses the Hornets fall to 0-8 (0-4 NTL). The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 23 as they host Williamson and Wyalusing.
