Hornet wrestlers fall to Sayre, 27-24

The Wellsboro Varsity wrestling team picked up two forfeits but came up short, 27-24, in an NTL match with Sayre Tuesday night.

Freshman Kaleb Smith won by forfeit at 200 lbs., Sophomore Owen Covert earned a 7-2 decision over Zachary Cecce at 285 lbs., Freshman Blaze Coolidge pinned Tyler Harbst in 3:43 at 120 lbs., Junior Jack Chambers won a 6-4 decision over Lucas Murphy at 145 lbs., and Senior Brandon Owlett won by forfeit at 152 lbs.

In the Middle School match the Hornets won 39-24.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-5 (0-4 NTL). The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 16 as they travel to North Penn.
