Girls XC tops Jersey Shore, boys lose

The Wellsboro Varsity Girls XC team topped Jersey Shore in their final regular season meet of the season on Tuesday, October 14.

In the girls race the Lady Hornets won 15-50. Freshman Anna Bleggi finished first overall with a time of 23:32, Junior Jada Jackson was 3rd (24:53), Junior Jordyn Coffee was 4th (25:16), Senior Annie Sweeney was 5th (25:40), Senior Caitlynn Butler was 6th (26:02), and Freshman Aiyana Hazlett was 9th (32:48)

Sophomore Alden Weiner was the top finisher for the boys, who lost 19-36, in 5th place with a time of 21:00. Sophomore Bryon Callahan was 6th (21:20), Sophomore Joey Messmer was 7th (21:24), Freshman Connor Brought was 8th (22:52), Freshman Kyle Wilson was 10th (23:26), Senior Dalton Messmer was 11th (23:26), and David Zavetsky came home in 13th (27:29).

With the win, the girls team is now 12-1 (8-1 NTL) and the boys fall to 3-10 (1-8 NTL) with the loss.
