Freshman Darci Warriner delivered a walk-off, RBI double to give Wellsboro a 1-0 victory over Towanda Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets struggled at the plate for most of the afternoon, as they were only able to generate 5 for the game. The offense picked up in the bottom of the 7th inning when Sophomore Peyton Wilson hit an infield single with one out. Warriner then doubled to score Wilson.
Warriner was 2-2 on the afternoon with an RBI. Sophomore Jordan Butters and Freshman Sarah Ingerick had the other two hits for the Lady Hornets on the afternoon.
Junior Brooke Kohler picked up her second win of the year as she came on in relief for Freshman Alexa Singer. Kohler pitched 2 1/3 innings and struck out 2 batters on her way to the win. Singer pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 3 batters.
With the win, the Lady Hornets are now 5-1 (3-0 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Monday, April 22 as they host Athens.
