The Wellsboro Varsity boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Big Valley Invite this weekend to start the 2013 season. The boys finished 8th with 155 points and the girls were 3rd with 64 points.
For the boys, Senior Joey Doganiero ran a solid race and captured a second place overall finish in the Class A meet with a time of 18:16 to lead the Hornets. Rounding out the rest of the squad were Freshman Joey Messmer in 30th (21:35), Junior Dalton Messmer in 31st (21:43), Sophomore David Zavetsky in 45th (24:06), and Freshman Alden Weiner in 47th (24:55).
For the girls, Sophomore Jada Jackson was 5th overall with a time of 21:53. Sophomore Camryn Keane was 12th (23:33), Junior Annie Sweeney was 13th (24:38), Sophomore Samantha Bailey was 15th (24:39), Freshman Janessa Davis was 19th (24:50), Sophomore Jordyn Coffee was 21st (24:57), and Senior Baylee Mann was 31st (26:12).
The teams will be back in action on Thursday, September 5 as they participate in the Lasagna Invite.
