The Wellsboro boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Northern Potter and came home in second place Thursday afternoon.
The girls team lost 22-35 while the boys fell 16-39.
In the girls race, Senior Baylee Mann, Senior Charlotte Worthington, Junior Caitlynn Butler, and Junior Annie Sweeney all ran 26:26. Freshman Janessa Davis and Sophomores Samantha Bailey, Camryn Keane, Jordyn Coffee and Jada Jackson all ran 26:27.
In the boys race, Senior Joey Doganiero ran 20:44 followed by Joey Messmer 21:51, Dalton Messmer 22:47, David Zavetsky 23:14, and Alden Weiner 23:22.
"Even though we had a meet on Thursday, we did not really race," said head coach Tom Slichter. "Having 3 meets in one week, we had to choose 1 meet to more or less practice through. The NTL meet on Tuesday was our highest priority of the week. The Altoona Invite on Saturday was our second priority.
"Thursday's meet at Northern Potter was our lowest priority and as a result we basically used it as a practice away from home. Both the boys and girls ran an easy mile and a half run even before the race. The girls then ran as a group being paced by senior Baylee Mann. The boys were paced for the first mile and a half by David, after which the rest of the boys were allowed to go as hard as they wanted."
In the Middle School race, both Wellsboro teams won by default, 15-0.
With the loss, the girls are now 3-2 (3-1 NTL), while the boys are 1-4 (1-3 NTL).
