The Wellsboro Varsity softball team picked up their first league victory of the second half of the NTL West season by downing Liberty 4-1 Friday night. Coming off a 9-1 loss to Northeast Bradford earlier in the week, the Hornet offense came to life as they scored runs in four of the first five innings on their way to the victory.
Freshman Lauren Bleggi had two hits with an RBI, Freshman Jordan Butters had two hits and Maggie Smith and Baylea Lehman each had doubles and an RBI.
Smith and Sophomore Brooke Kohler pitched on the night.
With the win, the Hornets improve their 2012 season record to 8-4 (5-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action this afternoon as they travel to Towanda.
