The Wellsboro Varsity softball team fell to Troy last night, 15-0, losing claim to the NTL West title.
After the Hornets defeated Troy 3-1 earlier in the season, Troy was looking for a little revenge and got it. Troy was able to capitalize on numerous erros by Wellsboro and sound hitting to jump out to a 9-0 first inning lead. In the second inning, a Katie Jackson hit drove in 2 runs to push the score to 11-0 Troy. Then in the third, Troy had four hits in a row to get 15th run.
Sophomore Brooke Kohler earned the loss on the night, her first of the year. She also recorded two strikeouts on the night. Offensively, Kohler and Freshman Lauren Bleggi each recorded walks and Bleggi added a stolen base.
With the loss, the Hornets end the regular season at 11-7 (7-3 NTL West). Please stay tuned to WellsboroAthletics.com for who the Hornets will face in District 4 playoffs.
