For the second consecutive week, the Wellsboro Green Hornets slayed an NTL opponent. This week, Troy was the victim. After allowing Troy to score on their opening drive, the Hornets took control of the game as WETM-18 Sports Athlete Of The Week Steve Mengee hooked up with Cameron Jones for an 86 yard touchdown reception.
Troy was only able to muster a field goal for their final score of the night, while the Hornet offense exploded for 25 unanswered points thanks to a dominating defense led by Junior Linebacker Aaron Moss. Moss recorded 13 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 interception to lead the Hornet defense on the night. Cameron Jones also added an interception.
Offensively, the Hornets were led by Pat Driebelbies and Jake Coolidge, as they each contributed touchdowns in the second half. With the win, Wellsboro moves to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the NTL Large School Division. The Hornets will be in action this coming Friday night at home as they take on Lewisburg.
