With playoffs on the line and rain in the forecast, the Wellsboro Hornets took on the Wyalusing Rams last night at Wyalusing's Peterson Stadium. For the first time this season, 48 minutes of football would not be long enough to decide the final outcome.
Wyalusing got the ball first and promptly marched down field to score the first points of the night. Wellsboro was able to answer in the second quarter, as Cameron Jones found Colton Acorn wide open in the end zone for a touchdown. At the half, the score was tied at 7-7.
Both teams were shut out in the second half, and overtime was necessary to determine the winner. Wellsboro's Jake Coolidge was able to punch the ball in on Wellsboro's second offensive opportunity, but David Brown of Wyalusing came up with a big touchdown catch. The extra point was good, and Wyalusing stole the 14-13 victory. All attention now shifts to North Penn, as both teams battle for the Morton Jones Trophy.
