Wellsboro splits 1-1 with Towanda

By: Ed Weaver  /  October 3, 2006

The Wellsboro Green Hornet Varsity Team headed into last Friday's game against Towanda coming off their first win of the year. Things looked good for the Hornets until Towanda Running Back Eric Potter busted up the middle of the Hornet defense to score a 70 yard touchdown on the Black Knights' first offensive play from scrimmage. After the final bell sounded, Towanda shout out Wellsboro 43-0, dropping the Hornets to 1-4 on the season.

On Monday, the Wellsboro JV Team was looking for redemption. After a quick Hornet touchdown, the game became a defensive struggle. Towanda scored late in the third quarter, but a key tackle made by Ronny Camacho during Towanda's two point conversion attempt sealed the victory for the Hornets, who held on for an 8-6 victory.
