Athens picked up their second win of the year Friday night, shutting out Wellsboro, 42-0. The game was played under damp conditions, but the Hornet offense was unable to put any points on the board. Athens returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and never looked back the rest of the game. The Wellsboro offense looked good at times, but inconsistent play and up front pressure caused the Hornet's offense to sputter.
On Monday night, the Hornet JV team hosted the Wildcats, looking again for revenge. Athens scored the game's first points, but the Hornet defense toughened up and held Athens scoreless until late in the fourth quarter. The Hornet offense continued to score points, as Pat Driebelbies, Chad Shultz, and Aaron Moss scored touchdowns on the night. In the end, the Hornets held on to win, 24-14.
