Wellsboro falls, 12-0

A pair of Coudersport fourth quarter touchdowns sent Wellsboro to their tenth loss of the year Saturday night, 12-0, at Wellsboro.

The non-league football win improved Coudersport to 7-3 on the season, the Hornets dropped to 0-10. In a game dominated by the defense, the Falcons were finally able to break into the scoring column early in the final period.

On fourth-and-goal from the Wellsboro two-yard line, Coudersport quarterback Pete Gerski threw a touchdown pass to Jesse Erway to make the score 6-0.

Later in the period, running back Jaron Locke ran in from six yards out to make the final 12-0. Locke finished with 73 yards on 16 carries.

The Hornets played well on the night, especially defensively, and had several opportunities to score, but couln't dent the goal line.

Quarterback Jon Cox, back from a knee injury, hit seven-of-16 passes for 122 yards for Wellsboro. Max Gross caught three balls for 47 yards, George Knight hauled in a pair for 31 yards, while Eugene Sticklin and Robbie Tallman caught one each for 27 and 17 yards respectively.

The Hornets host Troy on Friday evening November 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the final game of the season.
